Meet John Peters
My name is John Peters, and I am running for Congress because our district deserves leadership grounded in common sense, integrity, and real problem-solving.
Washington is not broken beyond repair. In fact, it can be fixed, and it does not require extreme ideas or endless partisan fighting. It starts with two simple, common-sense reforms.
First, we need term limits. Washington was never meant to be a lifelong career. Too many politicians have turned public service into permanent power, losing touch with the people they were elected to represent. Term limits would bring fresh perspectives, accountability, and a citizen-led government back to Congress.
Second, we need a federal Balanced Budget Amendment. Families and small businesses cannot spend more than they earn, and the federal government should be held to the same standard. A balanced budget requirement would stop Washington from spending more money than it takes in, reduce long-term debt, and protect future generations from the consequences of runaway spending.
I am not entering politics to serve a party, an ideology, or special interests. I am stepping forward to serve people. Families who are working hard, struggling with rising costs, concerned about safety, healthcare, housing, and opportunity, and tired of politics that produce more noise than results.
I believe most Americans agree on far more than we are told. Roughly 85 to 90 percent of the issues affecting our daily lives are shared concerns, regardless of party affiliation. Too often, Washington focuses on the small percentage of issues that divide us while ignoring the common ground where real progress is possible. I am committed to flipping that equation.
I am not funded or controlled by lobbyists or corporate donors. My loyalty is to the people of Florida's 14th District and to practical solutions that make life better right here at home. That means listening first, working across the aisle, and measuring success by results, not headlines.
My faith guides my values, but my approach is grounded in service, humility, and accountability. Leadership is not about power. It is about showing up every day, doing the work, and leaving the community stronger than you found it.
